ANALOG: Mo. 10. November ab 19h Comicstammtisch/ Comicmeeting

Der Eiswürfel war schon wieder weggeschmolzen. Wie sollte Renate ihren Cuba Libre genießen wenn die ganze Zeit das Eis sich in lauwarmes Wasser verwandelte? Sie winkte den Kellner auf der anderen Seite des Pools, natürlich schaute der den hübschen Touristen auf den… aber es war eh zu heiss unterm Sonnenschirm – vielleicht ein Sprung – na auch Sequenzen von Cluburlaub in der Karibik in Kopf? Erkältet, Farbenblind, durchnässt und verfroren in Berlin? Da müsst ihr durch wenn ihr zum legendären Renate-Stammtisch kommen wollt!
Wie immer Tucholskystraße 32 in der Comicbibliothek RENATE am Montag den 10. November, 19:00 Uhr, mit und ohne schlechten Bier.

The ice cube had melted away again. How was Renate supposed to enjoy her Cuba Libre when the ice kept turning into lukewarm water? She waved to the waiter on the other side of the pool, who naturally looked at the pretty tourist... but it was too hot under the parasol anyway – maybe a dip – well, maybe some images of a club holiday in the Caribbean in your head? Cold, colour blind, soaked and frozen in Berlin? You'll have to put up with it if you want to come to the legendary Renate regulars' table!
As always, Tucholskystraße 32 in the RENATE comic library on Monday, 10 November, 7 p.m., with or without bad beer.

Mo. 3.11 ab 20h Comicstammtisch mit / Comics Meetup with Sebastian Strombach

Renate ist ein bekannter Name für die Stammtisch-Besucher*innen, und für den vorletzten digitalen Stammtisch der Comicbibliothek Renate im Jahr 2025 haben wir einen Mentor geholt, dessen Namen auch bekannt ist und in starker Verbindung mit dem Stammtisch steht: Sebastian Strombach ist ein Enthusiast des Formats und besucht jedes digitale Treffen, dazu betreut er den Stammtisch vor Ort. Was aber nicht viele wissen, ist, dass er neben diesen Haupttätigkeiten auch andere Sachen macht - manchmal sogar mit Comics! Er studierte Architektur etwa, arbeitete als Bauarbeiter, Architekt, Tutor, Stadtführer, Komparse, Szenenbildner, Modellbauer, Storyboarder, Illustrator und Schildermacher. In seiner Freizeit hat er, um sich zu entspannen, Comicbücher mit architektonischen Ansätzen veröffentlicht, zu Berlin aber auch zu Köln. Auf dem digitalen Stammtisch wird er erzählen, wie man von Comics bessesen wird.

Renate is a familiar name for the visitors of its meetups, and for the penultimate digital meetup of the Comics Library Renate in 2025, we brought in a mentor whose name is also well known and closely associated with the digital meetup: Sebastian Strombach is an enthusiast of the format and attends every digital meeting, as well as he organizes the meetups on site. But what not many people know is that he also does other things besides these main activities — sometimes even with comics! He studied architecture, worked as a construction worker, architect, tutor, city guide, extra, set designer, model builder, storyboarder, illustrator, and sign maker. In his free time, he relaxes by publishing comics books with architectural approaches, on Berlin and Cologne. At the digital meetup, he will talk about how to become obsessed with comics.

ANALOG: Mo. 13. Oktober ab 19h Comicstammtisch/ Comicmeeting

Das hatte Renate gefürchtet. Nach wochenlangen nervenzerfetzenden Warten, Schlangestehen am Kiosk, verjubeln ihres letzten Cent für ein bedrucktes Blatt Papierwerbung, war endlich der vermaledeite Artikel erschienen. Über IHREN Comic. Jetzt war sie ein Star der in der Zeitung steht. Doch jetzt stand geschrieben: SCHWURBEL-SEUFZ-BATSCH! Immerhin nicht CCCHRR! Nicht so schlecht…bis ächz! AAAAH! Mit A! Nicht E. Renata.
Seid ihr auch Singvögel im Zeitungs-Strip? Oder ist es schon zu spät? Wie auch immer mit und ohne Presse kommt zum legendären Renate mit E Comicstammtisch. In der Tucholskystraße 32 in der Comicbibliothek RENATE am Montag den 13. Oktober, 19:00 Uhr.

That was what Renate had feared. After weeks of nerve-wracking waiting, queuing at the kiosk, spending her last penny on a printed piece of advertising paper, the damned article had finally appeared. About HER comic. Now she was a star in the newspaper. But now it said: SCHWURBEL-SEUFZ-BATSCH! At least it wasn't ZZzzzz! Not so bad... until ouch! AAAAH! With an A! Not an E. Renata.

Mo. 6.10 ab 20h Comicstammtisch mit / Comics Meetup with Andreas Platthaus

Comicrezensionen ist das Thema der drittletzten Sitzung des digitalen Stammtischs der Comicbibliothek Renate im Jahr 2025. Dafür haben wir fürs Mentoring den absoluten Spezialisten eingeladen: Andreas Platthaus wurde 1966 in Aachen geboren. Nach einer Banklehre in Köln, dem Studium der Betriebswirtschaftslehre in seiner Heimatstadt und der Lektüre ungezählter Donald-Duck-Geschichten verlor er die Lust, in der freien Wirtschaft zu reüssieren, und studierte in Tübingen Rhetorik, Philosophie und Geschichte, um zumindest an Wissen reich zu werden. Zum Feuilleton der Frankfurter Allgemeinen Zeitung stieß er 1997. Er ist dort verantwortlicher Redakteur für Literatur und literarisches Leben und veröffentlicht Rezensionen über Comics. Er ist Autor von mehreren Büchern über Comics und wurde 2017 von der Französischen Republik zum Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres ernannt. Seit 2007 ist er Ehrenmitglied der D.O.N.A.L.D. (Deutsche Organisation der nichtkommerziellen Anhänger des lauteren Donaldismus).

Comics reviews are the topic of the third to last meeting of the digital meetup of the Comics Library Renate in 2025. For the mentoring, we have invited the absolute specialist: Andreas Platthaus was born in 1966, in Aachen. After completing a banking apprenticeship in Cologne, studying business administration in his hometown, and reading countless Donald Duck stories, he lost interest in pursuing a career in the private sector and studied rhetoric, philosophy, and history in Tübingen in order to at least become rich in knowledge. He joined the arts section of the newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine in 1997. There he is the editor responsible for literature and literary life and publishes reviews on comics. He is the author of several books on comics and was named Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French Republic in 2017. Since 2007, he has been an honorary member of D.O.N.A.L.D. (German Abbreviation for "German Organization of Non-Commercial Adherents of Fair Donaldism").

ANALOG: Mo. 08. September ab 19h Comicstammtisch/ Comicmeeting

Renate war gestresst. Ihr Lieblingspullover hatte sich nun endgültig von Viellöchrig ins letzte Loch verabschiedet, gestern hatte sie ihn begraben. Doch wo einen Neuen hernehmen? BSR, Humana, RaDa, Pappe, Latex oder pinkes Leder? Selbstgestrickt oder selbst geschossen? Angemalt oder angestochen? Vielleicht erstmal zeichnen…
Wisst ihr auch nicht was eure Comicfiguren anhaben? Muss das sein? Lasst uns über Kleid, Hose und Stoffe reden, wie immer beim Renate Comicstammtisch. In der Tucholskystraße 32 in der Comicbibliothek RENATE am Montag den 08. September, 19:00 Uhr.

Renate was stressed. Her favourite jumper had finally gone from full of holes to completely worn out, and yesterday she had buried it. But where to get a new one? BSR, Humana, RaDa, cardboard, latex or pink leather? Hand-knitted or hand-shot? Painted or stabbed? Maybe draw it first...
Don't you know what your comic characters are wearing either? Does it have to be that way? Let's talk about dresses, trousers and fabrics, as always at Renate's comic book club. At Tucholskystraße 32 in the RENATE comic book library on Monday, 8 September, 7 p.m.

Mo. 1.09 ab 20h Comicstammtisch mit / Comics Meetup with Katja Klengel

Auf dem nächsten digitalen Stammtisch der Comicbibliothek Renate werden wir erklären, dass... Nein, nein, wir erklären doch nichts: Die Mentorin Katja Klengel selbst kommt zu Wort! Geboren 1988 in Jena, studierte sie Kunst an der HfBK Dresden und im Anschluss Drehbuch an der Dffb. Als Stipendiatin bei der Akademie für Kindermedien entwickelte sie ihr Dffb- Abschlussprojekt »Vesta«, eine Fantasy-Serie, die 2018 den MDM Preis gewann und für den First Steps Award im Bereich Drehbuch nominiert wurde. Neben ihrer Arbeit als Drehbuchautorin schreibt und zeichnet sie Comics. 2012 erschien ihr Fortsetzungs-Comic »Als ich so alt war« mit 100 Folgen in der F.A.Z. 2017 schrieb und zeichnete sie ihre feministische Comic-Kolumne »Gilrsplaining«, die 2018 als Buch herauskam und zum Bestseller wurde. Außerdem hat sie mit Thomas Wätzold "Reading Panels" gegründet, eine szenische, vertonte Comiclesung vor Publikum, die mehrmals im Jahr in Dresden und anderen Städten stattfand. Katja Klengel lebt als Drehbuchautorin und Comiczeichnerin in Berlin.

At the next digital meetup of the Comics Library Renate, we will explain that... No, no, we won't explain anything: mentor Katja Klengel herself will have her say! Born in Jena in 1988, she studied art at the HfBK Dresden and then screenwriting at the Dffb. As a scholarship holder at the Academy for Children's Media, she developed her Dffb graduation project "Vesta," a fantasy series that won the MDM Prize in 2018 and was nominated for the First Steps Award in the screenplay category. In addition to her work as a screenwriter, she writes and draws comics. In 2012, her serial comic "Als ich so alt war" (When I Was That Age) appeared in 100 episodes in the F.A.Z. In 2017, she wrote and drew her feminist comic column "Gilrsplaining," which was published as a book in 2018 and became a bestseller. She also founded "Reading Panels" with Thomas Wätzold, a scenic, soundtracked comics reading in front of an audience, which took place several times a year in Dresden and other cities. Katja Klengel lives in Berlin as a screenwriter and comic artist.
