DIGITAL: Mo. 6.12 ab 20h Comicstammtisch mit / Comicmeeting with demian 5

Das pandemische Jahr 2021 schließt mit demian 5 aka Demian Vogler als Mentor unseres digitalen Stammtisches ab. Bereits im Jahr 2000 machte der Zürcher Grafiker und Illustrator mit seinen ersten experimentellen Webcomics ein größeres internationales Publikum auf sich aufmerksam. Mit »When I am King« (Jaja Verlag) legt er seine erste Graphic Novel in Buchform vor. Es ist die überarbeitete Version seines ersten Webcomic-Erfolges, ergänzt mit diversen neuen Szenen und gespickt mit kunst- und kulturhistorischen Referenzen. Zu dem Buch sagt der Comicexpert Scott McCloud: "When I am King is web-native comics at its best; the fact that it looks great in print too is a happy surprise!" Basierend auf altertümlicher Hieroglyphenschrift setzt Demian die Geschichte mithilfe modernster Computertechnik grafisch virtuos um. Es folgten diverse weitere Comics-Projekte für Tageszeitungen, Newsletter und Fanzines, sowie zahlreiche Illustrations-Aufträge für namhafte Magazine und Zeitungen in der Schweiz.

Dieses Onlinetreffen wird nicht aufgenommen oder gestreamt, es ist nur für euch angemeldete Comic-Künstler*Innen.

The pandemic year 2021 closes with demian 5 aka Demian Vogler as mentor of our monthly digital Comic Meeting Up. As early as 2000, the Zurich graphic artist and illustrator attracted the attention of a larger international audience with his first experimental webcomics. With "When I am King" (Jaja Verlag) he presents his first graphic novel in book form. It is the revised version of his first webcomic success, supplemented with various new scenes and peppered with art and cultural-historical references. About the book, comic expert Scott McCloud says: "When I am King is web-native comics at its best; the fact that it looks great in print too is a happy surprise!" Based on ancient hieroglyphic writing, Demian uses the most modern computer technology to graphically transform the story, what he does with virtuosity. Various other comics projects for daily newspapers, newsletters and fanzines followed, as well as numerous illustration commissions for well-known magazines and newspapers in Switzerland.

Add to the email what you will be showing and what topics are of interest to you. You don't have to show your face in the call if you don't want to, but have your sketches or comics ready in digital form on your computer to be able to get feedback from other comic artists and from the mentor. This online meeting will not be recorded or broadcast publicly, it is only for you artists who are participating.
